Hellmuth & Johnson is pleased to announce its acquisition of Dakota Law, P.L.L.C., effective October 1, 2025, expanding the firm’s footprint into the south metro area with a new office in Lakeville, Minnesota.
As part of the acquisition, attorneys Charles “Chuck” Shreffler, Emily Fox Williams, and Larry Severson have joined Hellmuth & Johnson, bringing deep experience in business litigation, estate planning, and corporate law.

Charles “Chuck” Shreffler brings more than 35 years of experience in business litigation. He has represented clients in matters involving contract disputes, employment law, civil rights, and complex commercial issues. Chuck previously served as a law clerk to Judge Paul Magnuson of the U.S. District Court and has acted as general counsel for a startup software company.
Emily Fox Williams joins the firm as a partner, focusing on estate planning and business law. Her practice includes entity formation, succession planning, wills and trusts, shareholder agreements, and business transactions. She is licensed in Minnesota and the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota.
Larry S. Severson is founder of Dakota Law and has played a key role in supporting the south metro business community. Over his career, he has helped form more than 300 business entities and has served in leadership roles with several local economic development and civic organizations.
