Emma K. Knight

Emma Knight is a results-oriented litigator with a proven track record of success in both the courtroom and settlement negotiations. Emma practices in general commercial litigation at Hellmuth & Johnson, representing clients across various industries on complex legal issues, including business litigation, contract disputes, construction litigation, commercial lease issues, construction defects, and insurance coverage and litigation.

With extensive experience representing clients in both state and federal courts, as well as in arbitration and mediation, Emma is a tenacious advocate. She takes a strategic approach to litigation, thoroughly understanding that each client’s circumstances and needs are unique goals and tailoring solutions to achieve the most favorable outcomes.

Emma earned her J.D. and M.R.L.S from the University of Sturm College of Law, and her B.S. from the University of Wisconsin- Madison, where she competed on the Badger’s cross country and track teams. Emma is licensed to practice in Colorado and North Dakota.

EXPERIENCE

  • Successfully defended an individual client in a high exposure five-week jury trial that concluded with a $7.6M judgment in client’s favor;
  • Defended a public entity client in a four-day Special Master’s hearing to successfully enforce protections over confidential proprietary information and ultimately prevent requested public disclosure;
  • Successfully defended Fortune 500 trucking and logistics companies in complex litigation matters involving catastrophic injury and wrongful death claims;
  • Prepared briefing and argument for the Colorado Court of Appeals;
  • Obtained favorable judgments for corporate clients through dispositive motions.
