Suzanne E. Grandchamp

Suzanne Grandchamp is a seasoned, successful, compassionate family law attorney with nearly 30 years of practice. She represents clients in all matters related to family law: dissolution (divorce), paternity, modifications to existing orders, and third-party custody and parenting time disputes, obtaining consistently outstanding results. She has been recognized as both a SuperLawyer™ and one of the “Top Women Attorneys” in Minnesota.

Suzanne earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from William Mitchell College of Law in 1996 and her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Minnesota in 1992. She is also a California Licensed Professional Fiduciary, licensed by the Professional Fiduciaries Bureau in 2021.

EXPERIENCE

  • Szarzynski v. Szarzynski, 732. N.W.2d 285 (Minn. Ct. App. 2007). Successfully argued case that became cornerstone of case law involving nuisance litigation.
  • Frequent tracing and extraction of extensive non-marital property in contested divorces.
  • Regularly represent business owners in contested divorces.
  • Obtained sole custody for clients who were primary caregivers of children.
  • Obtained joint custody for clients in contested custody disputes when the opposing party petitioned for sole custody.
  • Obtained favorable settlement for clients through direct negotiation, mediation and trial in contested divorces, paternity actions, third-party custody cases and post-decree matters.
  • Successfully obtained emergency custody relief in numerous cases.
  • Extensive experience handling complex trials with numerous factual issues and expert witnesses.
  • Obtained sizable spousal maintenance awards for several clients and successfully fended off unwarranted claims of spousal maintenance.
  • Successfully litigated high conflict interstate custody and parenting time disputes.
  • Successfully resolved many third-party cases for grandparents and other caregivers.
  • Represented numerous clients in Order for Protection cases, successfully securing OFPs and DANCOs, as well as securing dismissals for numerous clients, who were falsely accused.
  • Guided clients through custody and guardian ad litem investigations.
  • Prepared clients for, and attended, scores of  “SENE” and “FENE” evaluations, and successfully negotiated on their behalf.
  • Deposed opposing parties and other witnesses, including experts.
  • Drafted qualified domestic relation orders (QDROs). Summary Real Estate Disposition Judgments (SREDJs) and Quit Claim Deeds (QCDs).
  • Represented numerous clients as a California Licensed Professional Fiduciary (CLPF).
