Steven R. Forrest

Steve Forrest is a litigation partner at Hellmuth & Johnson. He has more than 15 years of litigation experience, including trials in nearly every type of law in State, Federal, and administrative courts. His diverse litigation background positions him to solve the complex business and individual legal issues his clients face. Steve practices in general commercial litigation at Hellmuth & Johnson, which includes a variety of complex issues including, but not limited to, business litigation, health care litigation, construction litigation, estates and probate litigation, and litigation related to State licensing and regulatory requirements.

For the majority of his career, Steve has worked as a prosecutor and representing Minnesota State Boards and Agencies in litigation. Steve uses this background and experience to assist his clients in understanding applicable statutory and regulatory requirements with regard to their businesses.

When Steve is not litigating, he spends his time in the outdoors with his daughters fishing, gardening, and exercising.

EXPERIENCE

  • Received a more than $7.2 million Medicaid fraud jury verdict, the largest of its kind in State history.
  • Received a more than $150,000 jury verdict related to the attempted theft of a vulnerable adult’s estate.
  • Successfully defended the Minnesota Department of Corrections in COVID-19 class action litigation.
  • Represented the Minnesota Department of Health to enjoin health care entities from patient neglect.
  • Represented the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development in grant enforcement and recovery litigation.
